MACHINEGUNCONTROL was originally gonna be a b-side of the track SOFTTARGETFIXATION which focused on school shootings. That song ended up going in a slightly different direction leaving MACHINEGUNCONTROL to stand on its own as a nearly 8 minute instrumental pro gun control detour. When I wrote it, it was just called Machinegun mainly because it has a drum pattern in the chorus that reminded me of the Portishead song of the same name. It’s still there but it’s not as exaggerated as it was in the demo.
